When a woman is expecting to get pregnant, she waits impatiently for the early signs of pregnancy to appear. The pregnancy signs are not the same for everyone and they vary from woman to woman as no two pregnancies are the same. In some women these signs appear immediately after conception, for some it takes a few weeks to appear. You should monitor any changes in your body minutely to notice the symptoms and then get these confirmed.

As a woman body conceives and an embryo starts growing inside it, the hormonal levels rise and due to that certain prevalent changes appear in the body. Lets have a look at some of these changes.

Common Signs Of Pregnancy

Missed periods: A missed period is the most important classic sign. Though you may experience cramping and lower back pain just as during periods, the actual period may be missing.

Around the time of period, some women have pregnancy spotting, which is due to the fertilized egg getting implanted in the uterus. This is in the form of a discharge resembling a light period.

Nausea or morning sickness: It is another early sign of pregnancy; this may or may not be followed by vomiting. Some women mistake it for food poisoning; this has to be checked as it occurs.

Enhanced sensitivity to smell and taste: This is also a very classic sign of pregnancy as some women experience heightened sensitivity to certain smells and odors as well as develop craving for some food items.

Tiredness, dizziness: Nausea and vomiting prevent pregnant women from eating well which results in dizziness, sometimes fainting too. Also you may experience extreme fatigue and tiredness; this is due to higher levels of hormones and the body working hard to adjust to the new circumstances.

Changes in Breasts: The breasts might appear swollen, enlarged and feel sore and tender. This is another common sign of pregnancy. It is generally observed from the first week of conception itself.

More Frequent Urination and Constipation: The growing uterus puts pressure on the urinary bladder, thus frequent urination occurs during pregnancy. The slow metabolism and lack of fibrous diet results in constipation.

Other signs of pregnancy are headache, back pain, cramps, change in complexion and weight loss etc., which are to be watched for.

You must get the home pregnancy test done followed by clinical confirmation as soon as you experience any of the symptoms. Approach the doctor who will monitor you every week and give prescriptions as and when required. Set up a healthy lifestyle, eat balanced diet, get light exercise, and be cheerful and positive during your pregnancy. The signs of pregnancy are an indication of happy times ahead with the arrival of a new life
