Wow, Stories like this just give me the hee bee jee bees. Seems you can’t go out and eat anywhere now and days. My question is, was this bartender not tested for stuff like this? I think all food service workers should be tested for all diseases.
The New York City Health Department stated on Thursday that a bartender who worked at Ashton Kutcher’s 30th birthday party may have passed on hepatitis A to those in attendance. The party was held at the Socialista nightclub in New York, with many celebrities showing up for the bash, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler, Salma Hayek, and Demi Moore. He worked at the club for three nights, serving around 800 people.
The New York City Health Department stated that the bartender could have passed on hepatitis A to those at the nightclub in New York as he worked on the night of Kutcher’s birthday party, February 7, 2008.
The Health Department has stated that the owner of the nightclub Socialista is cooperating with the investigation.
The bartender worked three nights at the bar in total, and in those three nights it is believed that he served anywhere from 500 to 800 people.
The Health Department is offering free hepatitis shots this weekend.
Celebrities are also going to be getting hepatitis shots.
There have been no reports of any illness from those who attended the club as of yet.
Hepatitis A is a liver disease and can be passed along via traces of fecal matter, saliva, etc
