Ok, yea so here is spirit air lines with some low cost air fares, But are they truly worth purchasing? I mean the old  saying ” you get what you pay for”  really stands true with this airline in my opinion and seems many others as well.

First I will state my experience (1st time & last experience) then I will guide you to more reading and another post with many others riding in the same sinking boat.

I purchased 2 tickets first week of April for flight on may 29th Atlanta to Cancun, Mexico. The departure flight from Atlanta is suppose to be a non-stop flight, the return flight stops in Ft. Lauderdale and then to Atlanta.

Today in looking over the reservation it states to contact spirit air to confirm the reservation and flight. So I called their famous customer “no service” number 800 772 7117 time 7:30 am eastern time, first call I press option 2, got immediately busy signal and hung up on. Called back tried option #4 same, busy , hung up on. Tried option #1 reservations.. got hold music and message please your important to us, So I am on hold over an hour, absolutely terrible. I almost hung up few times. Finally I get a guy named Larin on the phone I explained I wanted to confirm the flight, he confirmed it. I asked about baggage, each traveler is allowed one carry on bag not weighing more than 40 pounds. But its cost to check in a bag not weighing more than 50 pounds, cost $10.00 each way paid for online or $20.00 each way at airport. This didn’t really concern me, even though when I purchased ticket I read this no where until just now from guy on phone and web site. so before hanging up I asked how long of a flight is it actually he said 4 hours flying time, I explained that is impossible normally it only 2 hours from Atlanta to Cancun, So he checks then informs the plane will actually land in Ft. Lauderdale and refuel and leave for Cancun. So its not really a non stop flight like we had thought and purchased based upon, So now.. we will get to enjoy the comfort of sitting at Ft. Lauderdale airport waiting to fuel up plane. So I hang up phone with the spirit air rep feeling as if I just got scammed, ripped off. But in reality that is what happened Spirit Air tricked me, they got my money now though, non refundable, Not much i can do except hope for a safe flight that is on time with non ugly flight attendants.

Thats my experience so far prior to flight, I will follow up after flight.
