The iPhone can be customized with different ringtones – or the sounds made when a call comes into the phone. A single ringtone ca be assigned to all calls or each contact can have a custom ringtone assigned to them to make their calls easy to identify.

Apple offers a ringtone creation and purchase service through iTunes. Other software companies and developers have also released ringtone programs that don’t require users to pay for their ringtones.
